Artwork seems to get finished on its own terms in my studio. I would like to show you some of the steps I take to a finished artwork. today is Nov 11,2023 . I am working on a lovely commission piece on large paper . The piece will reflect the large vertical piece on the wall at Nepenthe Gallery. Color is inspiring to my color sensitive eye.

The work on the top left WILL OF THE WHISP is now complete . Reminiscent of my work at the Embassy of Quinea with the repetition of vertical marks, elongation of the format. The title Will of the Wisp is a reference to the “swamp gas “ an illuminate of soft green blue light . I have addressed this idea by emphasizing “simultaneous contrast “. Our retina is over loaded with the colors I have chosen so that After images of soft aquamarine vertical lines appear and float , appear and disappear as the viewer softly gazes across and back along the painting. See this work at Nepenthe Gallery in Alexandria Virginia.
